Rain

The year has been quite dry but August seems to be making up for the lack of rain. It has been raining for the last 24 hours. The forecast is for the weekend is for drier brighter weather.

It's too wet to pick flowers. I picked these Nicotiana last weekend. I still have mixed feelings about them. They are looking quite good in the garden but I'm not sure I like them in a vase. However, I have noticed the scent since I bought them in the house. The good thing about them is as each flower dies I can remove it individually.

  1. Hi Gill,

We've received quite a bit of rain here this summer, so the wildflowers were gorgeous.

I enjoyed seeing your lovely photos today!

  2. We have never had rain like this over in East Anglia. However it does mean the annuals are pumping out flowers still. Love your rainy pic through the window.

  3. We hardly got rain up here in the mountains, we just skipped it I guess! The weather is starting to cool down and I'm getting ready for my Fall garden. Nice picture of the rain through your kitchen window and pretty flowers!

  4. Hi Gill - I actually like the Nicotiana's in the vase that you have them in. Perhaps if you had them in something bigger or wider, they wouldn't look as striking. When I look at that photo, they look almost exotic. We should be getting some rain from the Hurricane tomorrow afternoon here on Long Island. We need it! everything is so dry.
